Public Reception: Saturday, December 6 · 2 – 6 pm
Exhibition Dates: December 6 – January 10, 2015
SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS is pleased to present our 2014 Holiday Bazaar, featuring artwork from Los Angeles’ burgeoning creative network. Subliminal Projects has, from its inception, always been dedicated to the success and celebration of the provocative minds connected to and residing in Los Angeles. We are pleased to present an exhibition of work by many artists that have crossed our path, for a number of reasons and in a number of capacities.
Exhibiting artists include: Amanda Gordon Dunn, Andrew Holder, Angela Chvarak, Anthony Sneed, Britt Harrison, Casey Ryder, Dale Dreiling, Ernesto Yerena, Francisco Reyes Jr., j.frede, Michael C. Hsiung, MR Herget, Nicholas Bowers, Nil Ultra, Phil Lumbang, Richard David Sigmund, Shepard Fairey, Sterling Bartlett, and Tara Smith.
Each artist has a unique style and the exhibited works reflect a wide array of media, aesthetic, texture and subject matter. Fun, confrontational, decorative, soothing, abrasive and well executed, the artwork in this year’s Holiday Bazaar pays tribute to the characters occupying, defining, and sometimes defiling, our beloved city.
In addition to unique works, there will also be a selection of prints from the gallery archives on view and available for purchase. These prints offer a diverse range of size, style, and aesthetic by artists such as: Deedee Cheriel, Steve Harrington, Evan Hecox, Monica Canilao, Camille Rose Garcia, Stanley Donwood, and Gary Panter. Many of the available prints were originally featured as part of Art Alliance, an exhibition curated by Shepard Fairey that took place in Chicago during Lollapalooza 2014. This show highlighted the provocative and rebellious genius of a handful of practicing, international artists by putting them in the center of one of the world’s most well-known music festivals and culturally sophisticated capitals.
The Holiday Bazaar kicks off Saturday December 6th at 2 p.m. with complimentary baked goods, live music, warm cider, and Smokin’ Willie’s food truck serving up savory options in the parking lot. Family, friends, lovers, and haters are all welcome. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 12 to 6 pm. We will be closed from December 21 through December 29 so please plan accordingly.
